Full-timeInformation Technology

Looking for for a Lead / Principal / Staff Level Back-end / AI Engineer to join arguably one of the coolest start-ups in Sydney right now.

To be clear, this isn’t a data engineer or researcher role. It’s for an engineer who knows how to work with LLMs, not train them. Someone who has designed, integrated and optimised AI features end-to-end.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning the AI component and driving its roadmap (Ideally you'll have done this before)
  • Integrating with a range of LLMs (no fine-tuning or model training required)
  • Applying strong prompt engineering practices to deliver accurate, consistent outputs
  • Evaluating and iterating on prompts, system behaviour and integrations
  • Collaborating with product and engineering to embed AI into core experiences
  • Backend development using Go and Python

What We’re Looking For

  • Sydney-based only – able to work minimum 2 to 3 days per week in the office
  • Strong backend engineering experience in Go and/or Python
  • Hands-on experience working with LLMs, APIs and AI-powered features
  • Deep understanding of prompt engineering, output evaluation and accuracy improvement
  • Someone excited to be the AI owner and subject matter expert; not a data engineer or researcher

Why This Role?

  • A genuine founding-engineer role with proper funding, a small team, and huge greenfield scope to shape how AI is built and deployed across a modern platform.
  • Competitive base salary starting from $200k base + options
