Job Description

KPMG Australia's Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) Team supports clients in discovering, preserving, and analysing digital evidence sources to help them understand and interpret digital activities. By utilising advanced forensic tools and methodologies, we assist clients in identifying critical insights, ensuring evidential integrity, and enabling informed decision-making – this includes

  • Demonstrating a strong knowledge of computer systems (both on-premises and cloud), along with mobile devices, to identify, collect, and preserve relevant electronic evidence, in compliance with industry best-practices.
  • Performing in-depth investigations into digital data to uncover evidence of fraud, intellectual property theft, insider threats, or other misconduct.
  • Demonstrating proficiency with advanced forensic tooling (such as Magnet Axiom, Forensic Explorer, FTK, Cellebrite, NUIX and Encase) and industry-standard methodologies to enhance the recovery, and analysis of digital evidence from various data-storing devices.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide expert computer forensic insights.
  • Assisting with event reconstruction, timelining incidents and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Staying updated on emerging trends, tools, and techniques in computer forensics to ensure KPMG remains at the forefront of digital investigation capabilities.
  • Supporting the continued growth of KPMG’s DFIR practice by contributing to team management, the development of innovative offerings, relationship building, and thought leadership publications.



Your Opportunity

As a Senior Consultant within KPMG’s DFIR team, you will

  • Work within a national team of experienced DFIR professionals dedicated to supporting clients to identify, preserve and analyse electronic evidence, to address their internal digital investigative needs.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of digital devices, networks, and systems to uncover evidence of relevant activity. Ensure the integrity and admissibility of evidence for potential legal proceedings.
  • Utilise advanced forensic tools and techniques to identify, recover, and analyse digital evidence, supporting clients in uncovering critical insights and resolving complex investigations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on digital forensic best practices and techniques.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a range of skills, experience and qualifications including

  • Experience in Digital Forensics, Incident Response, or cybersecurity investigations within a professional consulting environment, relevant industry, government agency, or law enforcement. Proven experience in digital forensics, incident response, or cybersecurity consulting.
  • Strong technical expertise in forensic tools, techniques, and methodologies, which could include disk imaging, file recovery, mobile device analysis and cloud forensics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in working under pressure in high-stake environments, with a focus on delivering timely and effective solutions.



Qualifications

Relevant certifications such as GCFA, EnCE, or CCE are highly desirable.
