Requirements:

— Significant experience (e.g., 10+ years) in senior technology leadership (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Tech) — ideally in fintech, crypto, or highly regulated environments.

— Deep technical expertise: distributed systems, cloud architecture, microservices, high-throughput trading systems.

— Experience with blockchain / Web3 technologies: smart contracts, consensus, node infrastructure, cryptography.

— Strong security background: secure architecture, cryptographic key management, threat modelling.

— Understanding of EU regulations: MiCA, GDPR, AML / KYC frameworks, financial compliance.

— Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams.

— Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

— Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred but not mandatory.

— Fluent in English; German could be a plus (depending on Vienna operations).

Responsibilities:

Technology Strategy & Vision

— Develop a multi-year technology roadmap for WhiteBIT EU.

— Identify key architectural decisions (e.g., microservices, cloud, on-prem) to support high transaction volume, low latency, reliability.

— Assess and adopt emerging technologies (blockchain, Web3, zero-knowledge proofs, MPC, etc.) relevant to WhiteBIT’s roadmap.

Product Development & Engineering Leadership

— Oversee development teams (backend, frontend, blockchain, devops) in EU and potentially cross-regionally.

— Drive product delivery: trading platform, wallet infrastructure, custody, APIs, blockchain integrations.

— Ensure robustness, performance, and scalability of trading and backend systems.

Security & Risk Management

— Own the security architecture: infrastructure security, application security, data encryption, key management.

— Work with compliance/legal teams to ensure systems meet regulatory and audit requirements.

— Oversee incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity plans for the EU operation.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

— Collaborate with compliance, legal, and regulatory teams to translate EU regulatory requirements (e.g., MiCA) into technology solutions.

— Ensure data systems and flows meet GDPR / data protection regulations.

— Implement and maintain controls, logging, and reporting systems that support regulatory audits.

Team Building & Leadership

— Recruit, mentor, and lead an engineering organization in Vienna / EU.

— Build a high-performance culture: set OKRs, KPIs, promote innovation.

— Foster cross-functional collaboration (product, business, compliance, operations).

Operations & Infrastructure

— Define infrastructure strategy (cloud, hybrid, regions) to guarantee uptime, resilience, and cost-efficiency.

— Lead DevOps / SRE practices: continuous integration/deployment, monitoring, alerting.

— Optimize infrastructure cost while maintaining performance.

Stakeholder Management

— Report to and work closely with the EU Managing Director / CEO, board, and possibly with global WhiteBIT execs.

— Act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical executives (business, legal, compliance).

— Communicate technology vision, risks, trade-offs to senior leadership.

Innovation & Growth

— Explore new business opportunities from a tech perspective (new products, partnerships, blockchain initiatives).

— Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives for Web3, DeFi, staking, etc.

— Stay ahead of competitors in technology and innovation.
