PHP + Laravel Backend Tech Lead (f/m/d)
Responsibilities ✨
- Actively contribute, mentor, and provide technical coaching to a PHP + Laravel Backend Development Team on product development and maintenance activities.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and web applications using PHP, Laravel, Eloquent, GraphQL, and Microsoft SQL Server for database modelling and design.
- Implement GraphQL for efficient data querying and manipulation.
- Write well-structured, testable, and efficient code.
- Apply both AI-Augmented (using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, etc. to accelerate, enhance, and automate parts of the development lifecycle) and AI-Agentic (AI agents to plan, write, test, and integrate code) software development approaches.
- Ensure high-quality, maintainable code with strong automated unit test coverage using PHPUnit.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, and UX/UI Designers.
- Work with cross-functional teams to embed DevOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Utilise Jira and GitLab for streamlined project tracking, version control, and collaboration.
- Apply Agile development methodology to deliver iterative, high-quality software solutions.
Skills & Requirements ✅
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience with PHP, Laravel, Eloquent, GraphQL, and SQL.
- Proficiency in database modelling and design (Microsoft SQL Server).
- Experience with automated unit testing using PHPUnit.
- Strong familiarity with DevOps approaches and CI/CD processes.
- Proficiency with both AI-Augmented and AI-Agentic development approaches.
- Experience using tools like Jira and GitLab.
- Proficiency in Agile development methodology and collaborative team environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities.
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
