Director of Science

Our client is a VC-backed enterprise SaaS scale-up building next-generation financial intelligence. Combining proprietary data with deep scientific modelling, they’re solving problems that once felt unsolvable - redefining how global industries understand, quantify, and act on complex risk.

Now scaling fast, they’re seeking a Director of Science to take ownership of their most advanced modelling and deep-technical R&D function reporting directly to C Suite.

The Role: Turning Deep Science into Scalable Value

You’ll lead a team of world-class scientists and PhDs, shaping the bridge between theoretical excellence and productised innovation.

Your mission: scale the company’s modelling capability with precision, pace, and purpose.

You’ll:

• Lead a technical team of specialists, fostering a shift from academic rigour to commercial delivery.
• Define and own the modelling roadmap, prioritising work that drives measurable product and client outcomes.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to translate breakthrough modelling into robust, production-grade systems.
• Oversee the integrity and governance of models trusted by highly regulated, global clients.
• Drive innovation through advanced ML, GenAI, and statistical techniques, amplifying physics-based models with modern intelligence.

You:

A strategic and technical leader who thrives where complexity meets velocity.

You’ve built and led high-performing technical teams (10–20+) within a fast-paced environment, and know how to channel deep science into commercial success.

You’ll likely bring:

• Experience in applied ML/AI, predictive analytics, or statistical/numerical modelling.
• A background in turning research outputs into scalable product capability.
• Outstanding communication skills - translating technical depth into executive clarity.
• A bias for delivery, outcomes, and measurable impact.
