We are looking for a Junior Frontend Engineer (m/f/x) to join the Processing team, the core engine of our platform. You will directly contribute to how users search, preview, and discover satellite data. This is a dynamic, friendly, and international team, primarily based in Berlin in a hybrid environment. Your work will support the geospatial industry/earth observation, allowing you to use cutting-edge technology to help address global challenges like climate change. This role offers you the chance to make a real impact in an innovative and exciting organization.
What you will do:
- Shape technical solutions to enhance product value and operational efficiency across the processing, storage size information, and data management domains.
- Influence the product roadmap by defining technical solutions that improve user satisfaction and product performance.
- Work on small tasks and fix bugs independently, seeking guidance when needed to stay on track and maintain output.
- Modify and improve existing functionality within one component, applying best practices to ensure solutions are maintainable.
- Actively participate in code quality by becoming involved in frontend Pull Request (PR) reviews.
- Own and successfully drive a small initiative—such as a small feature release, code refactoring, or a mid-sized technical debt project—from initial concept through to final deployment.
- Ensure that work adheres to quality and security standards, focusing on maintainability and scalability, with guidance.
- Contribute to our internal knowledge sharing by delivering a talk in a Circle of Practice.
- Familiarity with web-based software design and frontend development.
- Knowledge of JavaScript and React (or a similar framework).
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS for building desktop web applications.
- Knowledge of version control (Git or others).
- Willingness to work in a hybrid mode, based in Berlin.
- Fluency in English.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
- A collaborative and communicative team player.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Exposure to TypeScript.
- Exposure to browser mapping libraries such as MapLibre, Mapbox, Leaflet, or OpenLayers.
- Exposure to testing tools such as Vitest, Jest, or Playwright.
- Let’s disrupt the industry: You get the chance to shape the state-of-the-art geospatial processing platform and create a completely new planetary perspective.
- Let’s stay flexible: We practice a hybrid working model - you can choose when to work from the comfort of your home or join your colleagues in our modern office in the heart of Kreuzberg, or even from a global place of your choice up to 90 days per year.
- Let’s win as a team: We’re an inspiring international team working in a fun and productive environment.
- Let’s be fair: We offer a competitive salary package and other perks such as wellbeing initiatives, sponsored fitness subscriptions, educational budget for your personal development and public transportation discount - just to name a few.
- Let’s enjoy the good side of life: Gather in regular team events as well as our global company parties twice a year.
- Let’s think outside of the box: There are challenges and enough space for creativity and taking ownership.
Our culture is one of belonging, where everyone feels welcome and where differences are celebrated. We seek to recruit the best talent regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background and/or belief—and strongly encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.
