We're seeking experienced and dynamic leaders to join our relieving pool for Executive Director - Regional Operations Officer positions across the state throughout 2026.
These roles offer an exciting opportunity to lead regional operations, drive system-wide initiatives, and support schools and early childhood services to deliver exceptional outcomes for students and communities This is a great opportunity for both experienced and aspiring leaders to further develop their skills and make a real difference in education.
This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.
This relieving pool will provide a valuable opportunity for both experienced and aspiring leaders to step into an Executive Leadership role, develop their skills, and contribute to the success of Queensland's education system.
The Executive Director works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide operational leadership, supervision, and management of regional functions and officers. As a leader in the Queensland Government, successful candidates will display high-level integrity, strong agility to adapt to a constantly changing environment, a commitment to evidence-based practices, and excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities
In line with the attached role description, the Executive Director - Regional Operations Officer will:
- Provide operational leadership for the region, including supervising and managing teams of regional officers who support state schools.
- Lead the alignment of regional strategic planning and governance processes with system expectations.
- Monitor service provision and identify opportunities to enhance the quality and responsiveness of regional services to meet school and system priorities.
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external partners to advance school and system priorities in line with the Department of Education Strategy.
- Support the Regional Director in all aspects of leadership, including local emergency management preparedness and response activities.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to manage resources effectively, including human, financial, and physical resources.
- Strong governance and corporate knowledge, with the ability to apply these skills in an educational context.
- A demonstrated ability to lead large and diverse teams to deliver high-quality, responsive support to schools and early childhood settings.
