Position

We are looking for L2 Application Ops Engineer to join our Application Services department to help us implement DevOps and accelerate the bank’s transformation. This a very hands-on technical role to drive continuous improvement initiatives on top of day-to-day BAU support. We want someone with fresh and relevant ideas who is passionate about learning new things and wants to develop themselves further.

Mission

The L2 Application Ops Engineer is responsible to ensure production stability and contribute to the continuous improvement of the applications in scope. You will manage incidents, changes and requests as per CACIB standards and SLA to ensure a high quality of service. You will also be involved in major operations as per the requirements of the bank.


As we are covering the bank’s global operations, you will work in rotational shifts* and also be occasionally doing on-call support** during non-business hours. You will also be occasionally required to work on planned activities on the weekends or public holidays as per our operational requirements. This will be an opportunity to have a better perspective of what can be further improved in production!


*Rotational shifts: Members in the team will rotate accordingly around 3 shifts (time will shift to an hour later during the daylight saving time period in the year).

**On call support: This covers 7 consecutive days during non-business hours to manage escalated incidents and to work on planned changes, weekend included.

  • Morning: 7am-4pm
  • Afternoon: 2pm-11pm
  • Evening: 5pm-2am

Main responsibilities

You will mainly be responsible for:

  • Performing all run activities in respect of CA-CIB process, ensuring :

- SLA and priorities are respected

- Appropriate reaction, in line with the severity of an incident or escalation.

- CA-CIB process are dully followed (service request, change, incident, problem management)

- Management of technical issues, escalations and ensuring good level of delivery

- Primary operational technical support and assist the functional support teams

- Good collaboration between various teams within ITS and also BLI

  • Continuous improvement of service

- Propose improvement and solution to reduce repetitive tasks

- Improving complex operations (DRP, Migrations, Major maintenance etc.)

- Improving reliability and quality of our systems (automation, monitoring, alerting, security, RCA etc.)

- Reducing time-to-market by implementing CICD pipelines where possible

- Improve and standardize existing workflow processes and framework

- Bridging the gap between Dev and Ops


  • Managing knowledge within the team

- Share the knowledge within AS teams through the WIKI

- Promoting knowledge sharing within the organization (trainings, documentations etc.)


  • Driving the most complex operations & ensures they are well prepared (involvement on DRP test, WIP, etc…).

- Act as global coordinator main events.

- Review of major releases roadmaps

- Ensure post checks are documented, performed and report is shared

Qualifications and Profile

The position requires 3 years relevant experiences as a production support or at least infrastructure support or development role.


Preferred

  • 3 years of experience with UNIX environments
  • 3 years of experience in scripting languages such as Python, Powershell
  • 2 years of hands on experience in any of these tools and technologies such as Ansible, Gitlab, Azure Devops, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience with task schedulers such as Control-M
  • Good understanding of IT ecosystems and application architectures


Knowledge about

  • CICD pipelines, ITIL practices, Agile practices, Lean
  • Observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, or Dynatrace is a plus
