We are seeking an experienced Chief Technology and Information Officer to join the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). This role will oversee the Technology and Information Services division, contribute to the RTA's organisational strategy and provide expert leadership to the Business Intelligence, Digital Solutions and Cyber Security functions.

This position is a 3-year fixed-term role and is located in the Brisbane CBD.

About The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Technology and Information Officer leads the RTA's technology, data, security and change services, drawing on both internal capability and external partners. The role sets and delivers the Technology and Information Strategy and associated roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the RTA's strategic plan, corporate objectives and regulatory obligations.

As CTIO, you will be accountable for the secure, efficient and effective operation of the RTA's information and technology environment, including core business systems, infrastructure, data platforms and information management practices. You will oversee cybersecurity, business continuity and resilience, business intelligence and analytics and the governance frameworks that underpin risk, compliance and value-for-money investment across the technology portfolio.

The role provides high-level strategic analysis and advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board and Minister on information technology, data and security matters and represents the RTA at internal and external forums. You will lead enterprise change practices for projects and continuous improvement, ensuring that business analysis, solution design, delivery and transition-to-operations are well-governed and tightly connected to organisational priorities and customer outcomes.

About You

You are a contemporary technology and information leader who brings both strategic depth and operational discipline, able to translate complex regulatory, policy and customer needs into clear technology, data and security priorities. You are comfortable working at CEO, Board and Ministerial levels while staying close enough to delivery to understand risks, trade-offs and implementation realities.

You foster strong relationships across business functions, anticipate emerging issues through data and feedback whilst leading change in a way that builds confidence and capability rather than disruption. You are committed to public value and customer outcomes and you are motivated by the opportunity to use technology, data and information governance to support a fair rental market and better experiences for Queenslanders.

You Will Likely Bring

  • Extensive experience in senior, enterprise-wide technology leadership roles with responsibility for applications, infrastructure, data and cyber security in complex organisations
  • A strong track record in setting and delivering technology and information strategies, from discovery and design through to implementation, service management and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-vendor, managed-services and cloud environments, with a focus on governance, risk management and value-for-money outcomes
  • Deep exposure to data governance, analytics and business intelligence and how these inform decision-making, service design and regulatory reporting
  • Proven capability in leading multidisciplinary teams and building an inclusive, high-performance culture that aligns to organisational values
  • Confidence operating in executive, Board and (ideally) ministerial environments, with experience in public sector, regulatory or statutory authority contexts regarded highly
  • Degree-level qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, with formal tertiary study considered highly desirable but not essential, supported by ongoing professional development.
