About This Opportunity

We invite a talented, hands-on Software Engineer to join our team. In this high-responsibility role, you'll work on our Medplum-based, FHIR-aware healthcare platform, expanding its capabilities safely and efficiently. You'll operate within a HIPAA-sensitive codebase, building patient-facing interfaces, implementing AI-powered data-augmentation workflows, and collaborating closely with our R&D team to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions.

Is that you?

• Strong React.js and TypeScript experience in production applications
• Python experience for multipurpose augmentation tasks
• Experience with backend frameworks (Express, NestJS)
• Experience integrating AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Claude, etc.)
• Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Lambda, RDS/Postgres, Redis) and Vercel hosting
• Proven use of agentic coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code/CLI, Codeium, etc.)
• Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and deliver safe, well-tested solutions
• Excellent English communication skills
• Good engineering judgment and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced R&D setting
  
  

Desirable:

• Background in healthcare platforms, Medplum, FHIR (4.0.1), HL7, or HIPAA-sensitive systems
• Experience building internal augmentation workflows or data pipelines
• Experience working in safety-critical or high-risk codebases
  
  

Key Responsibilities And Your Contribution

In this role, you'll design, build, and refine user-facing features, implement AI-driven workflows, and deliver safe, compliant solutions within a healthcare platform.

• Build patient-facing React.js/TypeScript interfaces used in production
• Implement non-clinical data-augmentation pipelines using modern AI APIs
• Integrate UI features with Express, NestJS, AWS-based backend services
• Work within a Medplum- and FHIR-aware codebase while following established safety patterns
• Use agentic coding tools to accelerate development and ensure final code quality
• Apply disciplined testing, code reviews, and controlled rollout processes for PHI-adjacent changes
• Support R&D efforts that require rapid iteration and strict deployment controls
• Communicate blockers, risks, and progress proactively to stakeholders
