About the opportunity:
ELMO has embarked on an ambitious UI Modernisation journey, establishing a dedicated Frontend Platform Team to empower product squads across the organization. As a Senior Front-end Software Engineer on the Platform Team, you will be instrumental in building the robust, scalable frontend infrastructure that enables consistent, high-quality user experiences across ELMO's applications.
This is a unique opportunity to work on foundational systems. You'll contribute to our microfrontend architecture using Module Federation, develop shared libraries and capabilities, shape frontend standards, and enable product teams to build efficiently while maintaining enterprise-grade quality, performance, and consistency.
Desired Skills and Experience:
We value a strong technical foundation and focus on exceptional user experiences.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript and React frameworks.
- Solid understanding of frontend software development for the browser environment; User-Centric Design, Responsive Design, Accessibility, Performance Optimization, Scalability and Maintainability.
- Advanced knowledge of Typescript and coding patterns.
- Solid appreciation for shipping sleek, user friendly experiences.
- Experience utilising or developing Design Systems is desirable.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The core responsibilities of the Senior Front End Engineer include:
- Contributing to the ownership and maintenance of our module federation parent/shell application
- Developing and supporting shared libraries and packages (authentication, state management, utilities)
- Providing guidance on architecture patterns and technical decisions to product teams
- Supporting and occasionally working directly with product squads to accelerate their frontend development
- Championing continued AI tooling assessment and integration into our product development workflow.
- Customer-centric, and considerate of the product and its intent for end users.
- Creating and improving components, foundations and patterns within ELMO’s design system.
- Supporting and mentoring teammates to overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete tasks.
- Developing in compliance with accessibility (A11y) standards and ELMO’s inclusivity, privacy and security policies and procedures.
- Drafting and maintaining comprehensive documentation on technical patterns and guidelines to empower product squads.
