About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering innovative solutions that enhance the productivity and capabilities of our engineering organizations. Your expertise will help unblock complex challenges across the software development lifecycle, from technical design to deployment. You will lead the development of scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems, setting architectural standards and best practices. As a mentor and technical leader, you will guide junior engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and ensure the quality and maintainability of our codebase. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our products and engineering processes, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software or technology leadership roles with end-to-end responsibility across the software development lifecycle
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced degrees preferred
• Expertise in one or more prominent programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala
• Hands-on experience with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS platforms and public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong understanding of trade-offs related to correctness, robustness, performance, and resource utilization
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decision-making at various levels
• Customer-centric approach to technical problem-solving and decision-making

Responsibilities

• Regularly unblock challenges encountered during the software development process, from design to deployment
• Design and implement solutions utilized by multiple teams and products, managing large-scale projects effectively
• Address complex architectural challenges, ensuring adherence to architectural standards on new initiatives
• Lead code reviews, contribute to documentation, and resolve complex bugs, especially high-risk issues
• Set high standards for code quality and review processes, collaborating across engineering teams on company-wide projects
• Transfer knowledge from your expertise in specific languages to enhance team capabilities
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence within the team
