As Our Assistant Team Leader You Will
- Supervise a team to conduct field-based treatment, surveillance and sampling processes in alignment to the Biosecurity Act 2014 and ensure tasks are completed in accordance with operating procedures.
As our Assistant Team Leader you will:
- Supervise a team to conduct field-based treatment, surveillance and sampling processes in alignment to the Biosecurity Act 2014 and ensure tasks are completed in accordance with operating procedures.
- Assist team members to work safely and effectively in challenging environments, fairly distributing work amongst team members, checking the quality of completed work, completing daily work reports and other administrative tasks.
- Provide on-the-ground direction and support and quality assure team members work, assure accurate and timely record of field data, support staff well-being and positive group dynamics.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times and support team members in doing the same. This includes safe, competent and compliant use of all allocated tools and equipment. To ensure the safety of the equipment, perform daily checks and report faults promptly and undertake minor maintenance/cleaning as per standard operating procedures.
- Where required, engage the public through seeking consent to enter properties and maintain a polite and professional manner that promotes awareness of Biosecurity requirements. This includes supporting the positive public profile of your team, the National Fire Ant Eradication Program and Biosecurity Queensland.
- Assist in monitoring and managing accurate data collection including record keeping using standard forms, maps, electronic apps and GPS devices.
- Assist in monitoring stock levels and requesting purchases of baits and relevant equipment where required.
- Communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and polite manner with all staff and members of the community. This includes providing accurate information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with a range of chemical-based ant baits, when conducting treatment activities. This includes using a hand driven bait spreader.
- Comply with and understand the work, health and safety requirements.
- Previous experience in leading a team to complete tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of English literacy and numeracy.
- Sound computer literacy is required for this position. For example, the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- A current ‘C' class drivers licence.
