DevOps Engineer

A Belgian investment insurance firm operates on custom-built technology with zero vendor lock-in. They have a very small technical team and a minimalistic setup. The task is to audit their entire DevOps infrastructure and processes to assess what’s working and what needs improvement.

About the infrastructure (what to audit):

• Hetzner + OVH hosting, KVM virtualization, MariaDB clusters
• Git/SVN, Jenkins CI/CD, weekend releases, zero rollback history
• Grafana + Prometheus setup

What you will do:

• Conduct a full audit of existing DevOps infrastructure and workflows.
• Evaluate hosting and virtualization setup (Hetzner + OVH, KVM).
• Assess CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and version control systems (Git/SVN).
• Analyze monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana + Prometheus).
• Identify security vulnerabilities and ensure GDPR compliance.
• Provide recommendations for process improvements, rollback strategies, and release management.
• Deliver a detailed report with prioritized action items.

What you need:

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps roles.
• Strong expertise in Linux environments and system administration.
• Proven experience with security audits and compliance (GDPR knowledge is a plus).
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins CI/CD, Git/SVN, and database clustering.
• Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, and monitoring best practices.
• Knowledge of hosting and virtualization (Hetzner, OVH, KVM).
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
• Experience in FinTech or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
