Job Duties
Under broad direction, designs, codes, tests, trouble-shoots and documents engineering systems applications. Develops test strategies used in the automated regression testing of these systems. Follows secure coding practices, performs triaging of security issues, and implements fixes to deliver secure applications. Familiar with common software vulnerabilities and leading practices to mitigate. Works on large scale, complex projects. Proactively identifies areas for improvement within the software system and development processes and proposes new solutions. Develops assignments and schedules. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Requires completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar discipline, and a minimum of 7 years of related experience, including software development experience.

Responsibilities
Qualifications & Experience
- Design, build, and maintain core backend components of our platform using Python.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and domain experts to implement new features.
- Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability in handling large datasets and compute workloads.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.
- Mentor and support other developers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
- (Bonus) Help us optimize deployments and workflows in Kubernetes-based environments.
- 7+ years of professional experience developing production-grade software in Python.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices (testing, CI/CD, design patterns).
- Experience with data-intensive applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency with modern Python frameworks and libraries (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Pandas, NumPy).
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex requirements into code.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in production.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Exposure to scientific computing, reservoir modeling, or geoscience applications.
- Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code.
