About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our SVB Go Online Banking delivery team. This is a remote role that may only be hired in AZ, FL, GA, NC, and TX. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the development, integration, and enhancement of digital banking solutions, including core banking systems, credit/debit card processing, and foreign exchange services. As a technical leader, you will provide expert guidance on complex projects with significant strategic impact, ensuring that software systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with the bank’s long-term technological vision. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that meet business needs and regulatory standards. This role demands a proactive approach to technology evaluation, software development, and integration, with a focus on building maintainable, secure, and efficient systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 10 years of experience in software application development and maintenance
  • Or High School Diploma or GED with 14 years of extensive experience in software development and maintenance
  • 10+ years of progressive development experience as a Software Engineer
  • Hands-on development experience with Node.js, React, and LoopBack frameworks
  • Technical leadership experience for medium to large-sized projects
  • Proven ability to build and maintain large-scale software platforms
  • Deep expertise in React 16+, Redux, Mobx Store Management, Typescript, ES6, CSS3, and related technologies
  • Experience with Agile/Iterative delivery methodologies
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
  • Experience with RESTful web services, web applications, transactional databases, and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration solutions, API gateways, and DevOps tools such as Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, Docker, and Jenkins
  • Experience leading and managing a team of UI/full-stack engineers
  • Bonus: Experience working within regulated financial organizations

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate software development by creating utilities and supporting development activities to ensure efficient project execution
  • Evaluate software specifications for feasibility within existing infrastructures and recommend necessary infrastructure changes
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of current technology trends and assess their impact on the bank’s infrastructure
  • Provide mentorship and training to team members on new and emerging technologies
  • Offer technical advice and strategic guidance to associates, management, and project teams
  • Develop and implement software solutions to address complex technical challenges
  • Advise on aligning development projects with the bank’s long-term business and technology strategies
  • Lead the architecture and design discussions to influence system scalability, security, and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in TDD, CICD, and secure coding standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions
  • Manage and oversee the work of UI and full-stack engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment
