DevOps Engineer – Data Platforms

Lead reliability, automation and cloud operations for a critical data environment

Our client is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, performance and security of their cloud platform. This role is central to ensuring the organisation’s data services remain stable, trusted and highly available. You’ll apply strong SRE practices, build automation, and drive operational excellence across the cloud ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Lead incident response for P1–P3 issues, contribute to the on-call rotation and deliver clear RCAs and post-incident reviews.
• Maintain and enhance runbooks, capacity plans and error budgets.
• Plan and execute maintenance and upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Build and optimise logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards and alerts across core cloud and data systems.
• Automate operational workflows such as recovery, retries, backfills, drift detection and health checks.
• Monitor cloud spend, manage cost attribution and drive ongoing efficiency improvements.
• Administer RBAC, secrets, network controls, environment segregation and audit trails.
• Support governance, policy compliance and regular access reviews.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, Git-based deployment workflows and environment promotion.
• Maintain Terraform modules, enforce structured change control and support reproducible environments.
• Run automated tests, quality checks and monitoring workflows to ensure platform health.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Data, Security and vendors to resolve issues, plan releases and meet SLAs.

Required Skillset

• Experience operating cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) with defined uptime, reliability and batch SLAs.
• Strong DevOps/SRE background: monitoring, incident response, automation and operational rigour.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience using Git-based workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab).
• Practical IaC experience with Terraform for provisioning and change management.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, RBAC, secrets management, networking and access control.
• Confident communicator able to work across technical and non-technical teams.
