Backend TypeScript Developer

Join a growing aquaculture SaaS company in Trondheim and help build high performance backend systems that power data driven fish farming operations. You will work with complex datasets including time series data and design systems that support real world operational decisions at scale. Ideal for an engineer who wants to grow into a tech lead position!

What You will do:

• Design and implement backend services using Node.js with NestJS and TypeScript
• Create PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations
• Optimize SQL queries for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs
• Ensure backend systems are secure, well tested, and performant
• Model and manage time series data with a focus on retention and query speed
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to scaling and data modeling decisions

What we are looking for:

• At least 5 years of backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript using NestJS
• Advanced SQL skills including query optimization, indexing, execution plans, partitioning, and schema work
• Hands on experience managing migrations and schema evolution in production
• Strong understanding of relational database design and normalization
• Solid knowledge of API design, authentication, and backend architecture patterns
• Experience with debugging, profiling, and performance tuning backend systems
• Practical experience with time series databases such as TimescaleDB and handling time series workloads at scale

Bonus points:

• Experience with stream processing frameworks such as Apache Flink or similar tools like Kafka Streams or Spark Streaming
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or Google Cloud Platform
• Understanding of CI or CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with React for frontend work
