We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
In this role, you will build Cloud Interconnect, which virtualizes the edge and foundation and allows enterprise customers to connect their on-premises data centers/networks to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) at 100 and 10 Gb/s speed. Interconnect has been one of the key features for GCP to onboard large enterprises and as such is a high impact project. You will also span to connecting smaller customers through partners, as well as building ultra-low-latency interconnects in order for customers to be able to use large file stores and databases operated by third-parties, adjacent to (but not within) Google data centers. You will manage complexity from physical network and routers through cloud virtualization.

Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
- Experience in networking spans one or more of the configuration, control and data planes.
- Experience with infrastructure technologies including developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience in developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
- Ability to help quickly and resolve customer-related issues.

Responsibilities
- Support the launch of Cloud networking infrastructure to enable AI driven workloads to unlock their full potential.
- Design, develop, and scale cloud networking products and infrastructure to enable the hybrid cloud technical roadmap, ensure their availability, reliability, and performance.
- Advocate and drive engineering and operational excellence.
- Create designs for complex projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on ambitious goals.
