We are looking for a Junior Scrum Master to support several agile teams working on large-scale digital transformation initiatives within the justice domain. You will help teams apply Scrum effectively, strengthen collaboration, remove impediments, and support the delivery of high-quality digital products including automated case management flows, European data exchanges, and long-term public-sector transformation initiatives.
What you'll do
Facilitate the Scrum process
- Guide teams through all Scrum events: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Maintain sprint backlogs and help the team stay focused on sprint goals.
- Strengthen transparency, collaboration and predictable delivery.
Remove impediments
- Detect blockers early and support the team in finding pragmatic solutions.
- Escalate structural issues to Product Owners or programme leadership when necessary.
- Track recurring impediments and help teams build healthier delivery practices.
- Foster an open, safe and collaborative team environment.
- Stimulate engagement, continuous improvement and constructive communication.
- Facilitate alignment between developers, analysts, Product Owners and stakeholders.
Support the Product Owner
- Assist in backlog refinement and prioritisation activities.
- Help prepare demos, progress reviews and stakeholder communication.
- Promote value-driven decision-making.
Promote Agile maturity
- Act as an ambassador for Agile principles across the teams.
- Participate in agile communities of practice and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Contribute actively to the growing agile maturity of the organisation.
Improve team collaboration & communication
What are we looking for?
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- You bring 0–5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or working within an agile delivery team.
- You apply a solid understanding of Agile principles and frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.
- You work confidently with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps and Microsoft Teams to support delivery workflows.
- You demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to engage constructively with developers, analysts and Product Owners.
- You take a structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach to facilitating teams.
- You show eagerness to learn, grow and take ownership within a large, complex environment.
- You are available full-time and comfortable working in a high-impact public-sector setting.
- You are fluent in Dutch OR French, and have a good understanding of the other national language.
- Experience with Scrum Master responsibilities in the public sector.
- Experience facilitating estimation sessions, sprint forecasting or delivery metrics.
- Experience applying Agile techniques such as relative estimation, backlog shaping or team-level coaching.
