Senior Software Engineer

VASS BeNeLux, in partnership with European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work from Luxembourg. (EU nationality required)

Mandatory Qualifications:

• 7 years of experience as a software engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Java.
• Knowledge of software development methodology, design and lifecycles.
• Strong ability to understand context for source code, the source codebase, and its relation to business objectives. Ability to work both independently and on a team.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Experience with software development in Java.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Sybase, Oracle, MySQL). Experience in building APIs for both internal and external products. Github or another source code repository
• University (M.Sc.) degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or engineering (or equivalent applied experience).

Experience with the following frameworks and technology:

• Java (17), Spring Framework, REST webservices, JMS, React
• Programming languages (Java)
• Shell scripting (Unix, bash, shell)
• Messaging (Websphere, Active MQ)
• DBMS Systems (Oracle, Sybase, MySQL)
• API-layers (REST, etc.)
• Knowledge of IT-architecture, IT-infrastructure (servers, storage, hardware, network, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Background in public and/or private financial services institutions, insurance undertakings or equivalent institutions preferred Experience with development platforms (e.g., Cloud Foundry, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD principles and practices
• Continuous build and integration using Azure Devops, Maven, Sonar, Liquibase, Junit
