Are you passionate about creating embedded software that directly influences how a vehicle moves, behaves, and performs?

At ALTEN, we are currently looking for experienced engineers to join a work package team at one of our major clients in the automotive industry. The team works with motion-related vehicle functions — developing features that influence how the vehicle moves, behaves, and responds in dynamic driving situations. The scope includes drivability, motion control, performance, and core embedded software functionality.

About the role

As an Embedded Software Application Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional work package focused on implementing and optimizing embedded software for motion-related vehicle features. You will contribute to software development, integration, configuration, debugging, and testing of embedded control systems within the vehicle platform.

Your work will involve hands-on implementation in C for embedded environments, working with AUTOSAR architectures, and ensuring reliable, safe, and high-quality software releases. You will also support integration activities, simulation environments, and toolchain improvements within the project.

Your main responsibilities

• Develop and implement embedded software in C for automotive control units

• Configure and adapt AUTOSAR Software Components (SWCs) and RTE environments

• Support model-based development workflows and integration of Simulink/TargetLink models

• Debug, analyze, and resolve issues in embedded platforms, including real-time operating systems

• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines and software integration using Jenkins and Git

Your profile

You are a skilled embedded software engineer with a strong interest in automotive technology, control systems, and high-quality software development. You enjoy working in technical teams, solving complex challenges, and contributing to robust and safe embedded solutions.

We believe you have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience within embedded software development

• Strong knowledge in C/C99 programming for embedded systems

• Experience working with AUTOSAR (Classic)

• Understanding of real-time systems, embedded software architecture, and ECU development

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, or similar

• Ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion

• Very strong communication skills in English

It is meritorious if you have experience with one or more of the following:

• DaVinci (Configurator/Developer)

• TargetLink / model-based development

• Python

• MATLAB/Simulink

• Wrappers / interface layers

• Embedded SW integration workflows

• Automotive functional development or motion control features

We are recruiting simultaneously and review applications continuously — so we welcome your application already today!
