Chroma is currently working with a leading high-street retailer that’s expanding their development team and looking to hire a Backend Developer. This role offers a salary of up to £80,000, alongside excellent benefits and a hybrid working model (2–3 days per week in their Manchester office).

As a Backend Developer, you’ll play a key role in building and scaling the systems that power their digital platforms. You’ll design and develop robust, high-performing APIs that enhance customer experiences and support global growth. This is an opportunity to contribute to a major digital transformation - helping to create the foundations for new platforms, smarter insights, and stronger connections with millions of customers worldwide.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Java and APIs
- Proven experience building and scaling cloud-based microservices
- A self-motivated team player with a passion for clean, scalable code and continuous improvement
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Kotlin
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
