As Data Scientists, we work in a challenging environment where understanding and solving business problems is what we love. We build Data Science products that deliver the required value to our stakeholders, and we use vast amounts of data to do so. Our main responsibilities are to solve business challenges, and to implement the solutions in production environments. As a Data Scientist at Coolblue you will be a key part in all of this.

How do I become a Data Scientist at Coolblue?

The productionisation of Data Science solutions is a crucial part of our responsibilities. To build our products, you will work with state-of-the-art methods, the latest technologies, and large amounts of data from many different sources. This will help to make Coolblue even better at making our customers happy. You will work with a team of experienced Data Scientists following the Scrum framework. You will have room for working and learning independently while being guided and coached by our Senior Data Scientists. Do you want to become a Data Scientist at Coolblue? You enjoy doing this

  • Talking to our stakeholders to understand clearly what their business problems are and what needs or requirements they have.
  • Talking to our stakeholders to showcase the amazing products your team has built or improved.
  • Getting, querying, cleaning, and maintaining the datasets you got from your stakeholders to guarantee great data science products.
  • Doing amazing data explorations that help you and your team understand what information is relevant and what hypothesis to consider.
  • Creating amazing statistical analyses or outstanding Machine Learning models that shine because of their impact on the company.
  • Building Proof of Concepts but also productionising data science products.
  • Thinking about, how can we make our solutions faster, more reliable, more accurate, and easier to maintain?
  • Collaborating with Domain specialists, Analysts, Data Engineers and Data Scientists from other teams to make a better solution.
  • Querying data from our systems and generating the relevant insights that can help us to improve our (or create new) solutions.
  • Experimenting with modern Machine Learning techniques.
  • Sparring with your colleagues for a second opinion on your analysis.
  • Learning from our Senior Data Scientists.

You recognize yourself in the following

  • You have a MSc in Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Operations Research or Statistics.
  • You combine an understanding of business challenges with strong data-analytic thinking.
  • You enjoy improving and maintaining data science products in production environments, focusing on increasing the usefulness for stakeholders and the company, rather than applying the coolest solution.
  • You are into both researching and engineering, and you enjoy building products and thinking along about improvements.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • You have experience with successfully applying Machine Learning techniques like Gradient Boosting, Random Forest and Neural Networks in production.
  • You have experience with SQL and/or BigQuery.
  • You have good knowledge of Python.
  • You take ownership of your product and guard the quality yourself.
  • You enjoy brainstorming with your colleagues to improve the team ideas and products.
  • You see feedback as an opportunity to improve.
