Senior Test Automation Engineer - Contract | Sydney Location: Sydney (Hybrid working)

About the role We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a large enterprise program focused on building and improving automated testing frameworks across critical platforms.
You’ll work in a high-performing engineering team responsible for designing and developing automation solutions that support system integrity, performance and reliability across complex environments.
Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain test automation frameworks
• Develop automated test suites for UI, API and integration testing
• Work closely with engineers and product teams to embed quality into delivery
• Contribute to test strategy, standards and best practice
• Execute automated regression and integration testing
• Analyse defects and collaborate on root cause analysis
• Maintain test environments and test data
• Support release cycles and QA sign-off

Skills & experience required

• Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, DevTest or similar)
• Solid programming experience in Java, Python or TypeScript
• Experience with API testing and integration validation
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, TeamCity or similar)
• Exposure to message-based systems (Kafka, MQ) an advantage
• SQL / database testing experience desirable
• Strong engineering mindset and attention to detail
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams

Desirable

• Experience in enterprise or regulated environments
• Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Fraud, digital or financial services experience
• Linux / Unix command line experience
• AI or data engineering exposure (nice to have)
