About the Program

Join one of NSW’s most significant education infrastructure initiatives, supporting a $44.9B asset portfolio and thousands of schools across the state. This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead ICT projects that stabilise critical systems and prepare for future modernisation.

Your Role

As an ICT Project Manager, you will deliver maintenance, stabilisation, and enhancement projects across complex legacy platforms. You’ll manage multiple stakeholders, navigate technical challenges, and ensure seamless delivery in a high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery

  • Prioritise and deliver backlog items across business-critical systems.
  • Execute small-to-medium enhancement projects while balancing BAU support.
  • Resolve technical debt and critical defects impacting daily operations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with business units to address operational pain points.
  • Manage expectations across regional asset teams and governance bodies.
  • Report progress to Technology Portfolio Steering Committee and leadership.

Technical Coordination

  • Translate business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Oversee testing cycles, UAT, and deployment planning.
  • Drive data quality remediation and eliminate manual workarounds.

Vendor & Integration Management

  • Manage external contractors and integration dependencies.
  • Coordinate with Data & Integration teams on ingestion and schema transformation.

Key Challenges

  • Legacy complexity and end-of-life technologies.
  • Balancing urgent production issues with strategic improvements.
  • Managing technical debt and resource constraints.
  • Driving change in a context of recent stabilisation and change fatigue.

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years managing ICT projects, ideally in government or education sectors.
  • Experience with legacy system maintenance and modernisation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of integration architectures and database-centric applications.
  • Familiarity with NSW Government IT governance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Highly Desirable

  • Knowledge of asset or facilities management systems.
  • Exposure to NSW Government IT policies and governance processes.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple technical teams and platforms.
