Role Description

We’re looking for a Backend Developer to help us evolve our architecture toward microservices and deliver backend services that are secure, reliable, and scalable. You’ll work closely with frontend (React/Next.js), DevOps, and product in a remote-first environment with strong ownership.

You’ll also collaborate with a top-level team of builders, including former startup founders and senior operators, in a context designed for fast learning, high standards, and real career acceleration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python/FastAPI microservices
• Build clean, well-documented REST APIs
• Implement core domain logic: identity, scheduling, notifications, documents, dietary workflows
• Work with PostgreSQL + SQLAlchemy (schemas, migrations, performance optimization)
• Integrate AWS services: ECS/Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, SQS/SNS
• Contribute to Terraform IaC for cloud infrastructure
• Integrate and orchestrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Mistral, Claude)
• Build and improve shared libraries for reusable functionality
• Ensure code quality through unit/integration testing and code reviews
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product
• Participate in agile workflows (sprint planning, refinement, daily sync)

What we are looking for

• 3+ years of backend experience
• Strong knowledge of Python (3.12+) and FastAPI
• Experience with async programming, Poetry, and virtual environments
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy ORM
• Hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3)
• Solid foundations in microservices, API design, and distributed systems
• Experience with Terraform (v1.5+)
• Proficiency with Git, testing, Docker, CI/CD
• Comfortable working in a monorepo setup
• Strong communication and autonomy in a remote-first environment

Nice to have

• Experience with SQS/SNS, CloudFront, Lambda layers
• Familiarity with healthcare systems, privacy, or security
• Experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector DBs, or RAG patterns
• Exposure to React/Next.js or full-stack workflows
• Experience with high-availability or large-scale systems
