About the job:

We seek an experienced Technical Lead for our ML Engineering team. You will serve as the technical anchor for a group of highly qualified engineers, focusing on architectural integrity, engineering standards, and system scalability. In this role, you will architect and build solutions utilizing the latest AI techniques while ensuring the robustness of existing systems within the carVertical data department. You will define the technical roadmap, make critical architectural decisions, and drive engineering execution to deliver high-performance ML solutions that increase transparency in the used car market.

Your daily focus:

• Translating Strategy to Tech: Collaborate with the Head of Decision Science to digest business requirements and translate them into concrete technical architectures and engineering plans.
• Technical Direction: Define the "how" of our ML systems—choosing the right patterns, tools, and frameworks to ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Hands-on Engineering: Actively contribute to the codebase, building production-ready ML models, pipelines, and complex features alongside the team.
• Elevating Engineering Standards: Define and enforce high-quality coding standards and design patterns to minimize technical debt (focusing on technical excellence rather than administrative management).
• Execution & Delivery: Own the technical delivery timeline, identifying engineering bottlenecks and ensuring the team ships robust solutions efficiently.

Required skills:

• Experience in Technical Leadership: Proven track record of leading technical delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and conducting code reviews (technical authority rather than people management).
• At least 5 years experience in Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related areas.
• Proficiency in Python programming language.
• Excellent understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts and techniques.
• Deep understanding of how to architect end-to-end ML systems.
• Experience in deploying models into production on AWS or similar cloud platforms and monitoring and maintaining them in the long term. Preferably on platforms with GPU accelerators.

Optional skills:

• Model development experience in the PyTorch ecosystem.
• Experience with boosted tree model frameworks like XGBoost and LightGBM.
• NLP or Computer Vision experience.
• Experience with AWS cloud platform products (such as ECS, Lambdas).
• Experience with infrastructure as a code (terraform).
• MLops using GitHub Actions, Airflow, AWS-based solutions and MLFlow.

From 7000 brutto
