We are seeking a skilled AWS Data Engineer to join the team in Oslo!

You’ll be part of a cross-functional engineering team building a next-generation national data platform designed to handle high-volume, high-complexity datasets that power citizen-facing services for the public sector

This is an opportunity to work at real scale with complex ingestion pipelines, strict security and compliance requirements, and a need for rock-solid reliability.

You’ll help shape the architecture, build core data services, and contribute to a platform that will remain a national digital backbone for years to come.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and build scalable AWS-based data pipelines for streaming and batch workloads.
  • Develop and optimise ingestion frameworks to integrate data from numerous heterogeneous public-sector systems.
  • Contribute to the architecture of a large, federated data platform operating across multiple AWS accounts and regions.
  • Implement robust CI/CD pipelines and IaC to ensure repeatable, secure deployments.
  • Work closely with data architects, platform engineers, and domain teams to define standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Ensure the platform adheres to strict security, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in performance tuning, cost optimization, and operational monitoring.

Tech Requirements:

We’re looking for engineers with strong, hands-on experience in some of the following:

Core AWS Services:

  • Compute & Orchestration: Lambda, ECS/Fargate, Step Functions, EventBridge
  • Data & Storage: S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, DynamoDB, Redshift, RDS
  • Streaming: Kinesis Data Streams / Firehose or Kafka on AWS
  • Security & IAM: IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Organizations, Control Tower

Data Engineering & Languages:

  • Strong Python programming (PySpark experience is a plus)
  • SQL expertise for complex transformations
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines at scale
  • Familiarity with schema management, data quality frameworks, and metadata tooling

Infrastructure & DevOps:

  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or AWS CDK
  • CI/CD: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline
  • Monitoring/Logging: CloudWatch, OpenSearch, or equivalent
  • Containerization: Docker (plus experience with Amazon ECS/Fargate is a bonus)

What We’re Building (the Platform):

You’ll be contributing to the engineering of a large-scale, cloud-native data platform that includes:

  • A unified, governed data lake
  • Standardised ingestion pipelines processing structured, semi-structured, and streaming data
  • Secure data zones (raw, curated, analytics) with automated lineage and metadata capture
  • A service catalog and data APIs enabling multiple public organizations to share and consume data
  • Automated compliance and auditing controls built into the platform foundation
  • High-availability design capable of scaling to millions of daily transactions

What's In It For You:

  • Competitive salary package aligned with seniority and experience, consisting of a fixed base salary and an annual profit sharing scheme
  • Pension and insurance plan
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid office/home options
  • Professional development budget for certifications, courses, and conferences (AWS training encouraged)
  • Modern working environment in central Oslo with easy access to public transport
  • Opportunity to work on a national-scale platform that provides long-term career growth, stability, and meaningful impact
  • A culture that values work–life balance, collaboration, and continuous learning
