As Our Principal Project Officer, You Will
- Lead and manage the effective delivery of services ensuring the objectives and related activities of the Unit occur to the highest standards.
- Provide effective leadership, direction and motivation that supports the government’s priorities to accelerate innovation, readiness and adoption.
- Actively support the implementation of any related Queensland Government Policies.
- Prepare and provide comprehensive, high quality and timely strategic advice to the Director-General, the Office of the Minister and senior departmental staff on issues, opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, contentious matters and successes as required.
About The Role
As our Principal Project Officer, you will:
- Lead and manage the effective delivery of services ensuring the objectives and related activities of the Unit occur to the highest standards.
- Provide effective leadership, direction and motivation that supports a skilled workforce that is client focussed, engaged and informed about the business and ready to meet the challenges of changing business and customer needs.
- Actively support the implementation of any related Queensland Government Policies.
- Prepare and provide comprehensive, high quality and timely strategic advice to the Director-General, the Office of the Minister and senior departmental staff on issues, opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, contentious matters and successes as required.
- Actively contribute to and/or ensure, as applicable, the development of operational plans, reporting and monitoring of financial and human resource objectives and actively contribute to strategic planning processes.
- Work across the department to build a collaborative community of practice in support of departmental strategic and operational imperatives.
- Initiate, lead, influence and maintain high functioning key stakeholder relationships that successfully manages positive expectations, progresses business opportunities and creates efficiencies by representing the department as required, active participation on networks and reviewing associated engagements, resources and outcomes.
- Champion organisational change initiatives to continually improve the performance of all Unit activities.
- Manage highly complex and sensitive matters and escalate as required.
- Foster a culture that values ongoing excellence in performance, customer service, continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services.
- Undertake duties as a manager in accordance with s40 (2) & (3) of the Public Sector Act having regular management and performance conversations with employees under your supervision and by implementing departmental performance and development strategies to assist in maintaining high performing and committed employees.
- Experience in successfully leading and supporting teams and program management to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
- High level analytic, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively provide authoritative advice to senior and executive management using advanced effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage, negotiate and influence to achieve organisational goals.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
