Swiss Cyber Institute invites applications for the position of Learning Scientist with a focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will help shape the next generation of cybersecurity and AI education.

About the role
We are looking for a Learning Scientist to ensure the quality and effectiveness of our learning experiences. You will review learning materials, analyze student data, design assessments, and develop targeted interventions that help learners progress and succeed.
We do not expect a single person to be an expert in every area listed below. Strong candidates will bring depth in some of these areas (e.g., assessment design, data analysis, co-design with instructors) and the ability and willingness to learn and collaborate on the others. Key responsibilities:
- Review and improve the quality, clarity, and pedagogical soundness of learning documents and materials
- Co-design learning experiences and improvements with instructors, content authors, and instructional designers
- Design, build, and refine formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives
- Develop and test learning interventions (e.g., additional practice, scaffolding, alternative explanations, feedback loops) to improve outcomes
- Create simple reports and dashboards to share insights and recommendations with management
- Collaborate with product and teaching teams to prioritize and implement improvements to courses and programs
- Contribute to and maintain guidelines, rubrics, and standards for learning quality and assessment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Learning Sciences, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related field
- Experience working with learning content, curriculum, or instructional design in an educational or edtech setting
- Hands-on experience with assessment design (quizzes, exams, rubrics, performance tasks)
- Ability to translate data insights into clear recommendations for improving learning experiences and outcomes
- Strong understanding of concepts such as learning outcomes, mastery, feedback, and scaffolding
- Excellent written communication skills in English
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple tasks and priorities
