CTO / Co Founder
Location: Stockholm, Sweden (Hybrid, regular time in the office)
Our client is a seed stage institutional DeFi startup building infrastructure that lets lenders bring real world loan books on chain. They are looking for a hands on CTO / Co Founder who wants full ownership of the backend, blockchain integration and overall engineering strategy while leading a small, high calibre team.
The role
You will:
Own the backend architecture and technical roadmap for a mission critical financial platform
Build and scale RESTful APIs in NestJS / TypeScript, with PostgreSQL (Supabase) and Prisma
Integrate with external loan providers and financial data systems
Work directly with Ethereum smart contracts using Ethers.js, including ERC 3475 compatible lending modules
Implement proof based data verification (eg Merkle tree generation) and on chain financial logic (interest, fees etc)
Maintain high test coverage with Jest / Supertest and drive engineering best practices
You will also:
Lead and mentor a small team across backend, blockchain and integrations
Translate product requirements into technical milestones and delivery plans
Partner closely with the founding CEO on product, timelines and investor discussions
About you
Senior level experience building backend systems in modern TypeScript / Node
Strong background in REST APIs, microservice style architectures and relational databases
Hands on exposure to blockchain applications or Web3 infrastructure
Comfortable in early stage environments where you combine strategy with shipping code
Experience leading small teams while still contributing as an individual engineer
Nice to have:
Experience with tokenization, DeFi or financial instruments
Fintech or regulated markets background
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD and cloud deployments
