Build the Rails for Global Stablecoin Payments

About the Role

Stable Sea is looking for a founding Backend Engineer to design and build the core infrastructure that powers cross-border payments and stablecoin treasury management.

You won’t just be adding endpoints—you’ll be laying the rails: architecting systems that talk to banks, payment processors, and blockchain networks like Stellar, Polygon, and Starknet. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thinks like a founder: obsessed with reliability, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to ship quickly in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build core backend services and APIs in Golang that power our products end-to-end.
• Integrate with banks, payment partners, and blockchains to support stablecoin flows, FX, and cross-border use cases.
• Own performance, reliability, and scalability of critical systems, with a strong focus on transaction integrity and security.
• Collaborate directly with founders, frontend engineers, and compliance to take features from idea → design → production.
• Monitor, debug, and improve production systems—you care deeply about uptime, latency, and correctness.
• Shape our DevOps discipline (CI/CD, observability, testing) and help define how we build and ship software as we scale.

What You Bring

• ~4+ years of backend experience (or equivalent impact), ideally in fintech, payments, or blockchain.
• Strong proficiency in Golang, or deep experience in similar languages plus a willingness to ramp on Go quickly.
• Hands-on experience with blockchain integration (Stellar, Polygon, Starknet, Ethereum, Solana, etc.).
• Solid foundation in system design, API design, data modeling, and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience with SQL/relational databases and data integrity in transactional systems.
• Understanding of security and compliance in financial applications (encryption, KYC/KYB, auditability).
• A builder / founder mindset: you take ownership, move fast, sweat the details, and are comfortable making tradeoffs with imperfect information.

Nice to Have

• Experience with stablecoins, on/off-ramps, or cross-border payments.
• Familiarity with Layer 2 networks and smart contract design patterns.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience deploying to AWS or GCP using containers or serverless.
• Exposure to tools like Terraform, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
