Excellent opportunity to join a growing project management consultancy working for a blue chip client running multiple concurrent projects at different stages of the project life cycle.
Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to work on a capital works programme. This role provides the opportunity to work across multiple concurrent projects and support the successful planning, design, procurement, construction and defects phases of the clients works.
You will work closely with the client, external consultants and government agencies to support end-to-end project delivery. This position requires a proactive, detail-focused Assistant Project Manager who can coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage documentation and support project governance and approvals.
The ideal candidate will have experience in client-side project management, design coordination, contract administration or construction delivery within education, health, commercial or public infrastructure environments. Candidate could also come from a head contracting background as well.
Responsibilities Include:
Schematic Design Phase
- Support development of the Project Management Plan (PMP)
- Assist with consultant scoping, procurement and engagement
- Support preparation of schematic designs, design reports and preliminary cost estimates
- Coordinate consultant inputs and documentation
- Support reporting and submissions to the client
Authorities, Approvals & Design Development
- Attend design review and government agency meetings
- Assist with design development, revised cost estimates and authority requirements
- Support management of planning/DA/heritage/environmental approvals
- Participate in cost management and value engineering activities
- Provide updated design documentation for approvals and review
Documentation Phase
- Support preparation of detailed design and construction documentation
- Review specifications and drawings for compliance with the Project Brief
- Track approval conditions and integrate required changes
- Assist with value management, document control and design updates
Tender Documentation & Procurement
- Ensure tender documents align with clients guidelines
- Assist with tender documentation, procurement processes and contractor evaluation
- Review submissions, attend tenderer meetings and support tender recommendations
Construction Documentation
- Review “For Construction” drawings, schedules and specifications
- Manage updates to finishes, materials and colours schedules
- Support trade tender processes and document revisions
- Assist in cost-related design adjustments as instructed
Construction Phase
- Liaise with the client to resolve design matters
- Provide clarifications, draft site instructions and RFI responses
- Undertake regular site observations and prepare written reports
- Review shop drawings, prototypes and samples
- Assist with government agency liaison
- Provide documentation and certification support for practical completion
Defects & Warranty Period
- Prepare defect lists and monitor rectification
- Conduct inspections and prepare defects reports
- Support resolution of defects and warranty issues
- Maintain reporting for conformance with design documentation
General Project Support
- Provide information for monthly cost reports
- Respond to requests for documentation, advice and design modifications
- Coordinate consultant deliverables and maintain drawing registers
- Manage submission of drawings and documents to authorities and stakeholders
- Assist with obtaining project approvals and required consents
