The Onboarding Manager – Acquiring Domain is responsible for the complete lifecycle of merchant onboarding for Sonect/Finhub’s acquiring platform. This role ensures every merchant is commercially validated, risk-screened, KYB/KYC approved, contractually onboarded, and technically ready for activation.

Key Responsibilities

A. Business & Commercial Responsibilities

• Analyse merchant use case, business model, industry type, and traffic sources.

• Map transaction flows, settlement flows, card flows, and order lifecycle.

• Validate supported payment methods (Card, AFT, OCT, Wallet).

• Review markets, operating jurisdictions, and supported currencies.

• Check capability alignment: Tokenisation, 3DS, Auto-settlement, Notifications.

• Prepare commercial proposal, pricing, and revenue model.

• Coordinate with Accounting/Treasury for settlement configuration approval.

• Verify MCC classification is aligned with internal and scheme rules.

B. Risk, Compliance & Document Responsibilities

• Manage full KYB/KYC package collection and validation.

• Conduct risk screening (PEP, sanctions, adverse media, fraud risk).

• Perform risk scoring and document rationale.

• Validate merchant website, domain, ownership, and operational history.

• Ensure scheme rule compliance.

• Prepare and coordinate merchant agreements.

• Register sub-merchants in acquiring/PayFac systems.

• Prepare onboarding files for Risk Committee/Compliance Review.

C. Merchant Interaction & Technical Coordination

• Act as the primary contact for merchants during onboarding.

• Clarify documentation requirements and business model questions.

• Coordinate tech readiness and test transactions.

• Track onboarding progress in CRM/internal systems.

• Support technical troubleshooting during activation.

D. Operational Excellence & Reporting

• Maintain accurate onboarding logs and merchant data.

• Ensure onboarding SLA compliance.

• Reduce onboarding rejection rates.

• Prepare onboarding performance dashboards.

• Support scheme/acquirer audits.

3. Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory:

• 3+ years in payment acquiring/PSP/PayFac onboarding.

• Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, MCC codes, AFT/OCT, settlement flows.

• Hands-on KYB/KYC and AML experience.

• Experience with acquirers, Visa/Mastercard, processors.

• Knowledge of crypto/gaming/forex merchants.

• Familiarity with iDenfy, Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage, WorldCheck.
