Role Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of network infrastructures, with a focus on Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Aruba technologies. With 7–10 years of experience, this role requires a strong background in SD-WAN deployments, network security, and performance tuning. The Senior Network Engineer will work on complex network projects, troubleshoot high-level issues, and ensure seamless network operations for large-scale enterprise environments. The role involves ensuring the security, scalability, and efficiency of the network infrastructure while collaborating with other IT teams to integrate network solutions with broader IT systems. This position also offers an opportunity to mentor junior engineers and drive network automation initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Network Infrastructure Management:
- Design, deploy, and manage Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Aruba network solutions for large-scale enterprise environments.
- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and network security devices.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
SD-WAN Deployment & Management:
- Lead the deployment and management of SD-WAN solutions to optimize network traffic and improve branch connectivity.
- Work with stakeholders to design SD-WAN architectures that meet business needs, ensuring seamless integration with existing network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SD-WAN-related issues, providing solutions for performance, security, and scalability.
Network Security:
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention systems, and other security measures to protect network infrastructure.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, monitor for potential threats, and implement necessary network security policies.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements for enterprise networks.
Network Optimization & Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshoot complex network issues related to routing, switching, security, and SD-WAN configurations.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve network reliability and performance.
- Work with vendors to escalate and resolve advanced technical issues.
Network Automation & Scripting:
- Implement automation scripts using tools like Ansible, Python, or PowerShell to streamline network configurations, monitoring, and reporting.
- Drive network automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation for network topologies, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Provide regular reports on network performance, incidents, and optimization efforts.
- Ensure knowledge transfer and documentation for continuity in case of team transitions.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
- Collaborate with IT teams, including system engineers, security teams, and cloud architects, to integrate network solutions with other technologies.
- Share knowledge and best practices with junior engineers, mentoring them in network troubleshooting, design, and optimization.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in networking, particularly around SD-WAN, security, and automation.
Qualifications:
- 7–10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, with expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Aruba networking solutions.
- Strong experience in SD-WAN deployments and network optimization techniques.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot routing, switching, security, and SD-WAN environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
