Job Title: DevOps Specialist
Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote)
Duration: 12 Months
Client: Public Sector
Pay Rate: C$90-C$100/hr
Note: Occasional travel to Edmonton, AB office required.
Mandatory Skills:
• Experience with research, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Experience documenting issues, solutions, and procedures.
• Experience with access tools such as SSH clients and Remote Desktop.
• Experience with basic security practices, including secrets management and the principle of least privilege.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, S3, RDS), GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Storage), or Azure (Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage), with a strong focus on deploying scalable data solutions and optimizing data pipelines across various projects.
• Experience with command-line interfaces for command execution and file system navigation.
• Experience with networking tools such as DNS lookups, traceroutes, and load balancing.
• Experience with scripting tools, including PowerShell.
• Experience as a DevOps Specialist supporting continuous delivery of custom-built solutions.
• Experience in designing and deploying hybrid cloud applications using Red Hat OpenShift.
• Experience with disaster recovery testing.
• Experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform).
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 or later.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Create scripts, tools, and procedures to support operations by designing and implementing automation for low-downtime deployment and maintenance.
• Lead production operations for digital services.
• Managing configuration and credentials for the production environment.
• Planning and overseeing maintenance activities.
• Managing database upgrades, migrations, backups, and recoveries.
• Provide operational support for the implementation and enhancement of digital services.
• Develop templates and patterns for application deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Create scripts and tools to automate the provisioning of development and testing environments.
• Build tools, scripts, and processes that enhance application observability through improved monitoring and telemetry.
• Support delivery teams in adopting and following best practices.
• Provide operational support for early and frequent integration testing, security scans, system testing, and performance/load testing.
• Provide operational support for early and frequent delivery to end users through limited-availability launches (Alphas and Betas).
