The Product Designer is responsible for designing, modelling, prototyping, testing and defining product interfaces and interactions to deliver an exceptional user experience. This is a multifaceted role that involves working closely with user research teams, external design agencies, product management and members of the agile sprint teams
Purpose of the Job:
The Product Designer drives UX and UI design activities to make compelling user experiences for internal digital products.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
- Advise and help guide user research (evaluative and generative) studies and observe and analyze end user behavior
- Contribute to ideation sessions by helping to sketch initial design ideas
- Perform market research to identify design models to consider for a given interaction
- Creation of web and mobile app prototypes and clickable wireframes used in user testing
- Oversee and aid in conducting testing designs with end-users (e.g., A/B testing, multivariate testing, etc)
- Produce detailed, pixel-perfect final specifications for product interface and interactions
- Identify product UX/UI inconsistencies across multiple products in a given suite
- Contribute to an interactive style guide to ensure clarity of the design principles and specifications that should be used by the agile sprint teams
- Work directly with the agile sprint teams to present and communicate design concepts and answer any related questions
- A design portfolio that demonstrates strength in user experience and visual design of digital products
- Experience in the product development processes starting with user-research uncovering pain-points and opportunities to detailed UX/UI design specifications
- Ability to rapidly produce multiple design mock-ups
- Experience creating clickable prototypes
- Ability to structure and conduct user tests and interviews
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to receive and share constructive criticism with team members
- Degree in design, psychology, business, statistics, human-computer interaction (HCI), related field or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and experience conducting user research projects
- Strong, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent time management skills with ability to manage strict, frequent deadlines
- A natural tendency to take initiative and drive projects forward
- HTML and CSS knowledge including experience working with responsive web design frameworks such as Bootstrap
- Mobile app design experience
- Hands-on experience working with Sketch, Abstract, InVision and the Adobe Creative Cloud products
- Knowledge of javascript and React framework is a plus
- Travel may be required from time to time to complete assignments
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate workload and multiple time zones as needed
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of experience in digital design, UX/UI development or a related field
