As Innovation Technologist focused on Cyber Trust you will explore how SGS can act as an independent provider of cybersecurity services and solutions that strengthen and extend the SGS DIGITAL TRUST offering. The role identifies where the market needs credible assurance for cybersecurity, resilience, and the protection of modern digital systems. The role analyses emerging technologies, threats, and research, evaluates startups and tools, and proposes where SGS should build, partner, invest, or acquire to expand its cybersecurity capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse Digital Trust trends to understand where organisations need independent Cyber Trust and identify credible roles SGS could play.
- Map key cybersecurity trust needs — resilience, secure operation, vulnerability risks, exploitation patterns, and protection requirements for modern digital systems.
- Evaluate cybersecurity assurance concepts (SOC/MDR models, forensics approaches, vulnerability discovery, penetration testing, resilience validation) for relevance and feasibility.
- Assess advanced trust technologies (confidential computing, secure enclaves, MPC, PQC, distributed key management) for their applicability to new SGS offerings.
- Interpret cybersecurity regulations (CRA, NIS2, sectoral rules, AI Act security requirements) and translate them into potential assurance and resilience roles for SGS.
- Engage with universities, cybersecurity research labs, and technology leaders to track cutting-edge developments and explore partnership opportunities.
- Track evolving threat landscapes (LLM-enabled attacks, automated exploitation, agentic AI threats) to identify emerging cyber assurance needs.
- Evaluate cybersecurity startups, tools, and platforms for innovation maturity and strategic fit with SGS’s Cybersecurity ambitions under the SGS DIGITAL TRUST offering..
- Provide technical insight and high-level due diligence for cyber-related build–buy–partner–invest evaluations.
- Work with the Innovation Design Lead to shape early Cyber Trust concepts, frameworks, or service ideas.
- Contribute expert insight to Digital Trust marketing, thought leadership, and cross-functional awareness activities.
- Work cross-functionally with business lines, M&A, R&D, innovation teams, and IT on early-stage technology assessments.
Essential Experience:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Cryptography, Distributed Systems, or a related field.
- Proven capability in applied cybersecurity, secure system design, architecture analysis, or advanced cryptographic work, with a strong record of delivering impactful solutions.
- Broad understanding of core cybersecurity concepts, including red teaming principles, SOC/MDR models, forensics, vulnerability discovery, and secure software practices.
- Ability to translate complex cybersecurity challenges into clear implications for Cyber Trust services and strategic recommendations.
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset — able to assess trust challenges at a strategic level and connect technical insights to business outcomes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Innovative and pragmatic, with a passion for emerging cybersecurity technologies and the future of Digital Trust.
- Familiarity with advanced trust technologies such as identity/key management, zero trust, confidential computing, secure enclaves, post-quantum cryptography (PQC), and multi-party computation (MPC).
- Understanding of major cyber regulations (CRA, NIS2, sector-specific rules) and their implications for Cyber Trust services.
- Experience working with cybersecurity startups, research labs, or innovation environments, including technical due diligence and strategic fit assessments.
- Ability to evaluate cybersecurity tools and research for innovation potential and scalability.
- Strong storytelling skills to shape strategic narratives around cybersecurity risks and opportunities
