🕓 Freelance, long-term collaboration (not CDI)
About the Project
We’re hiring a Backend Engineer for a leading French healthcare technology company that builds advanced digital platforms for hospitals and medical centers.
Their solution empowers doctors, nurses, and administrators to manage patient information, treatments, and connected medical devices — securely, efficiently, and in full GDPR compliance.
You’ll join a distributed international team and serve as the key technical presence in Paris, combining backend development with operational responsibility for production systems. This is a unique opportunity to build meaningful healthcare technology that directly impacts patient care across Europe.
- What You’ll DoDesign, build, and maintain backend services using TypeScript / NestJS.
- Integrate healthcare devices and ensure secure, real-time data synchronization.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability in a medical-grade environment.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and deployments on AWS (ECS, S3, SQS, KMS).
- Monitor production systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and remote developers to translate medical workflows into robust software.
- Ensure strict GDPR compliance and security best practices.
Tech Stack
Node.js (NestJS) · TypeScript · PostgreSQL / MariaDB · MongoDB · RabbitMQ · Docker
AWS · Kubernetes · GitLab CI · Prometheus · Grafana · Datadog · Jest · Playwright
- What We’re Looking ForStrong experience with Typescript Node.js (NestJS or Express) — at least 5+ years of backend development.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and MariaDB, solid understanding of data modeling and query optimization.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing and queues
- Good understanding of Docker and containerized development environments.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs (knowledge of versioning, authentication, and performance optimization).
- Strong proficiency with testing methodologies and tools (Jest)
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience designing, building, and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI is a strong plus).
- Proven experience deploying, monitoring, and managing applications in a cloud environment (AWS strongly preferred) using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Deep understanding of production operations: deployment strategies (blue/green, canary), monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident management
- Ability to understand complex architectures and follow existing project principles.
- Capable of designing and implementing complex features affecting multiple services.
- Autonomous in making technical decisions, with good judgment on when to involve leads or architects.
- Comfortable collaborating with medical professionals and translating real-world needs into technical solutions.
- High development velocity and focus on code quality, security, and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially under pressure
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work effectively with remote/distributed international teams
- Curiosity and AI usage: We actively embrace working with AI productivity tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, or Copilot to solve problems, sharpen code quality, and maximize efficiency. Fully leveraging AI in our daily work is not just encouraged—it’s an essential strength we cultivate.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and act proactively
- Thorough knowledge and practical application of data security principles and GDPR regulations regarding sensitive personal data (health data is a plus)
