We now have the opportunity for a Backend Developer to join our Technology Department. We are looking for a highly driven, talented and experienced Engineer who can design and develop high-quality backend services and APIs. Someone ready to contribute to scalable architectures, cross-functional integration, and continuous delivery.

The role will be based at our new, additional, technology site in Alicante, Spain. Backed by over 1,700 technologists worldwide based across our three key technology centres – our primary technology hub in Geneva (Switzerland), supported by Madrid (Spain), and Malmö (Sweden), and powered by one of Europe’s largest IoT platforms, we’re building something big, and we’re just getting started in Alicante.

You’ll be joining the Installation and Maintenance (IMA) team, which plays a key role in ensuring the technical and operational success of our alarm systems. This department supports the full lifecycle of alarm installation—from preparing customer data and technical plans, to enabling remote diagnostics and maintenance through backend systems.

A central focus of this team is the development and support of the mobile application used daily by Verisure’s installation and maintenance technicians. This app is not customer-facing; instead, it enables technicians to verify device connectivity, assess signal quality, perform diagnostics, and ensure that every alarm system is installed and maintained to the highest standards.

You’ll contribute to the development of secure, scalable, and performant backend services that power this technician app and integrate with internal operational platforms. Your work will help ensure that every installed alarm system is fully functional, connected, and optimized.

You will be responsible for developing technical analyses and designs based on business requirements, analyzing and proposing implementation alternatives, and ensuring best practices in IoT backend solutions development. You will also act as the application owner in terms of delivery and service.

Candidate profile

You are a backend developer with solid experience in Java and microservices architecture. You’re comfortable working with Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, and SQL, and you understand how backend systems support real-world operational processes. You bring a DevOps mindset and thrive in collaborative, multicultural environments.

Essential Qualifications

• 3–8 years of experience as a Java backend engineer

• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, distributed System Design/Development, and microservices

• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, MongoDB)

• Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka)

• Microservices orchestration (Dockers, Kubernetes)

• Event Driven and Event Streaming Architectures

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams

• Fluent in English and Spanish

Highly Valued Qualifications

• Knowledge in AWS cloud services

• Experience integrating backend services with frontend/mobile platforms.

• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 (for integration purposes).

• Experience interacting with cloud environments and DevOps pipelines.
