Do you turn complexity into clarity? Are you excited to run real user research, map journeys, craft wireframes, and validate designs - then ship changes that immediately reduce confusion? Do you bring a strong, evidence-based point of view, can align stakeholders, and say “no” to protect focus when needed? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Omnilex is a young dynamic AI legal tech startup with its roots at ETH Zurich. Our passionate interdisciplinary team of 10+ people is dedicated to empowering legal professionals in law firms and legal teams by leveraging AI for legal research and answering complex legal questions. We already stand out with handling unique challenges, including our combination of external data, customer-internal data and our own innovative AI-first legal commentaries.
As a UX/UI Designer - AI Product, you’ll establish a research-led UX practice and turn our expanding feature set into a coherent, intuitive product.
- Research & insight: plan and run interviews/usability tests; synthesize findings into personas, journey maps, and task flows.
- IA & navigation: clarify mental models and information architecture; resolve recurring confusion (e.g., when to use which view/flow).
- Wireframes & prototypes: produce low→high fidelity artifacts; validate quickly with users; iterate based on evidence, not opinions.
- Design system & states: define patterns, empty/loading/error states, and AI-specific states (thinking, confidence, retry/undo).
- Specs & handover: write clear specs with acceptance criteria; partner tightly with engineering; own design QA through to what ships.
- Measure & learn: instrument UX metrics (e.g., confusion behaviors, drop-offs); use PostHog/analytics to verify improvements.
- Alignment & cadence: lead design reviews, keep stakeholders aligned, and maintain a lightweight but consistent UX process.
- Focus & prioritization: sequence work for maximum user impact; protect focus and negotiate scope when requests conflict.
In your first months you will: baseline the top UX confusion points, redesign the IA/navigation where needed, validate the top three workflows with users, and ship fixes with measurable impact.
- Strong portfolio showing end-to-end UX work: research → IA/journeys → wireframes/prototypes → shipped UI and measurable outcomes.
- Fluency with Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping) and modern UX methods (usability testing, heuristic reviews, synthesis).
- Evidence-based product sense: you can argue clearly for decisions using user data and trade-offs.
- Experience collaborating closely with engineers; you follow through to what ships and hold a high quality bar.
- Proficiency in English.
- Availability full-time. On-site in Zurich at least two days per week (hybrid).
- You have a Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship.
- Working proficiency in German (user interviews and usability testing).
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., PostHog) and defining UX success metrics.
- Background designing complex B2B workflows or AI-assisted products.
- Optional: Comfort reading or implementing UI code for critical flows (React/TypeScript/Tailwind) or pairing closely to ensure faithful implementation.
- Direct impact: your research and designs will immediately reduce confusion and boost adoption and user trust.
- Autonomy & ownership: build the UX practice, shape our IA and design system, and lead alignment across teams.
- Team: work with a sharp, interdisciplinary group of engineers, product, business and engaged legal professional customers.
- Compensation: CHF 7’000–10’500 per month + ESOP (employee stock options), depending on experience and skills.
