Position Overview

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in building the AI core that powers Permobil’s next generation of intelligent systems – ranging from internal copilots and automation agents to customer-facing assistive technologies. In this role, you will design, deploy, and optimize the models and pipelines that bring advanced intelligence into our platform. Working within a modern Azure AI ecosystem, you will connect LLMs, embeddings, knowledge graphs, and real-world business data to create production-ready AI solutions that deliver measurable impact. You will collaborate closely with AI developers, data scientists, and backend engineers to transform cutting-edge models into scalable, secure, and well-governed AI services that support Permobil’s mission to improve lives through innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ML pipelines for model training, evaluation, and deployment using Azure Machine Learning, AI Foundry, and Fabric Notebooks,
  • Build and maintain retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and embedding pipelines leveraging Azure OpenAI Service, Cognitive Search, and Azure Storage,
  • Develop robust data ingestion and preprocessing workflows using Fabric or Databricks,
  • Implement continuous training and evaluation loops following MLOps principles in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions,
  • Collaborate with AI developers to integrate models into production services such as FastAPI, gRPC, or event-driven architectures,
  • Monitor and optimize model performance, cost, and latency across multiple environments,
  • Contribute to internal SDKs for model orchestration, feature engineering, and evaluation frameworks.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field,
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow,
  • Deep understanding of Azure Machine Learning, AI Foundry, and the broader Azure AI/ML ecosystem,
  • Experience deploying and scaling models using AKS, App Services, or Azure Container Instances,
  • Solid experience working with data pipelines and feature engineering using Data Factory, Fabric, or Databricks,
  • Strong understanding of vector search, embeddings, and RAG architectures,
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices, model registries, monitoring, and ML governance principles,
  • Experience working in agile development environments,
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Swedish is considered a plus.

Meriting Skills

  • Experience with LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and custom embedding generation,
  • Knowledge of orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar tools,
  • Exposure to Azure Cognitive Services, Responsible AI practices, or AI governance frameworks,
  • Background in data-centric AI, including evaluation and benchmarking of generative model quality.

Who are you?

You are a leader who inspires and motivates those around you, using your influence to drive collaboration and alignment across teams and stakeholders at all levels. You communicate clearly and actively, ensuring that ideas are shared, understood, and acted upon. You embrace experimentation and encourage others to do the same, understanding that innovation often comes from taking calculated risks.
