The role involves building and maintaining high-quality Kotlin codebases, managing dependencies and build processes with Gradle, profiling and debugging performance bottlenecks using tools such as Android Studio Profiler and Perfetto, and integrating native components via C/C++ and the Android NDK (including linking, memory alignment, and threading).
This role will also contribute to the optimization and integration of ML runtimes (GGML, TFLite, ONNX Runtime, TVM or similar), enabling efficient on-device execution of AI workloads. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, performance, and smooth delivery will be essential.
Skills needed:
- Kotlin (advanced)
- Dependency management and build configuration with Gradle
- Performance profiling and debugging (Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto)
- C/C++ development and Android NDK (linking, memory alignment, threading)
- OpenMP
- Machine Learning runtime optimization (GGML, TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, TVM or equivalents)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- Attention to detail, especially in performance-sensitive environments
- Clear and effective communication with technical peers
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex technical areas
- Experience integrating end-to-end ML pipelines on mobile
- Familiarity with GPU acceleration or Vulkan for mobile compute
- Experience with JNI and hybrid Kotlin/C++ architectures
- Knowledge of modern Android app architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
- Exposure to continuous integration and automated testing for Android
