The Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our studio in Helsinki. In this role, you will work with a very senior team set to create the next success story in mobile gaming.
Together with our skilled frontend engineers, you will work on the tooling that powers our platform, enabling millions of players around the world to enjoy the games we create here at Next Games. You will build bespoke systems that allow our teams to engage with their players through Netflix’s world-class tech stack.
You are curious about what’s new and how things could work, and you have a drive to exceed your own limits and improve yourself and the team. You are proactive and take pride in building robust and maintainable services.
At Next Games, you get to work on challenging technical tasks using modern development practices. Our team is relatively small, which means that we have very little bureaucracy and that you have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks.

Responsibilities
- Learn and work with Netflix’ expansive internal tools and platforms.
- Be part of developing and operating tools that power games for millions of players.
- Analyse requirements and build new greenfield features and systems for our platform.
- Collaborate with other teams and be part of creating great games.

- Experienced in back-end development
- Experience with modern development practices (DevOps, CI/CD, Containers…
- History of working with frontend teams to create web-based tools. (React or similar)
- Java programming experience, or knowledge in a similar language and a drive to learn.
- Knowledge of various databases, and when to use them (Postgres, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Cassandra…)
- Great troubleshooting and communication skills
- Understanding of modern software development practices
- Fluency in English
- A collaborative and team-oriented spirit
- Solid communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to give and take feedback
- Enthusiasm to take part in designs
- Passion for creating robust server platform for great games
