NU Advisory Partners has been retained to lead the search for a Chief Technology Officer for a purpose-driven organization expanding its technology and data capabilities. The CTO will oversee all aspects of technology, including infrastructure, engineering, architecture, product development, and data. This executive will drive modernization and scalability efforts while ensuring technology remains a competitive differentiator and a key enabler of growth.

Key Responsibilities


Technology Strategy & Vision


  • Define and execute a multi-year technology strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives and long-term growth plan.
  • Establish technical standards, architectural direction, and an operating model that ensures scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Serve as a key strategic advisor to the CEO, executive team, and Board, providing guidance on technology investments, risks, and opportunities.


Execution & Delivery


  • Lead platform modernization and engineering initiatives, ensuring best-in-class development practices and disciplined execution.
  • Oversee all core technology functions including product engineering, cloud infrastructure, data architecture, and security.
  • Drive the consolidation and evolution of legacy systems into a unified, modern technology environment that enhances the customer experience.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of technology programs.


Operations & Organizational Leadership


  • Build and scale a world-class technology organization with a strong culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
  • Strengthen systems reliability, cybersecurity, and data integrity to meet enterprise and regulatory standards.
  • Develop operational processes and performance metrics to ensure predictable, efficient delivery across the technology function.
  • Manage the technology budget and optimize resource allocation to balance innovation and operational efficiency.


Cross-Functional & External Engagement


  • Collaborate with product, operations, and commercial leaders to translate strategic goals into actionable technology roadmaps.
  • Represent the technology function in interactions with investors, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top technical talent, fostering a high-performing culture that supports professional growth and collaboration.


Qualifications & Experience


  • 7+ years of leadership experience in fintech or payments as a CTO or VP-level executive required.
  • Proven success leading large technology teams and managing modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Deep technical expertise across engineering, data, infrastructure, and architecture, with the ability to balance innovation and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience aligning technology strategy with organizational goals and measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong vendor management skills, including contract negotiation and oversight of outsourced partnerships.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executives, boards, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset and an ability to drive disciplined execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
