At the Institute of Information Systems Engineering, in the Research Unit of Distributed Systems TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant post-doc (all genders) limited to expected 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: February 2026.

Tasks

  • Independent teaching and supervision of students
  • Independent and cooperative research that advances the field of computing. Publications in top tier venues are expected.
  • Assisting in supervision of PhD students
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research division and the faculty

Your Profile

We seek candidates with strong scientific achievements, including publications in top journals in Distributed Systems, Mobile Computing, and Machine Learning for Communication and Networking. Experience in national and international research cooperation is required. Candidates should have strong communication and writing skills in German and English. We expect a clear interest in scientific problems, motivation for independent and goal-oriented research, and the ability to develop methods, concepts, and models, including their implementation and evaluation. Candidates should be willing to contribute to and lead interdisciplinary scientific initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Informatics, or a related field
  • Professional experience in at least one programming language and building modern distributed systems
  • Experience with high-performance numerical computing and large-scale machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, JAX)
  • Experience with software emulation, cloud computing, IoT systems, and distributed data structures
  • Teaching in German and English is expected

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
