About the Company

As a Software Engineer in a growing fintech/edtech company based in Southport on the Gold Coast, this role offers the chance to contribute to an ambitious product in a close-knit, creative team.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable, secure backend systems using Node.js
• Develop and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs to power game and platform features
• Collaborate with the Unity team to ensure smooth backend-to-frontend integration
• Design and manage database schemas (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) for performance and integrity
• Contribute to the development of CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments
• Partner with front-end developers, designers, and product stakeholders

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years commercial backend development experience

Required Skills

• Strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js (transferable technology like .Net\Java\PHP would be considered)
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other modern databases
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment best practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Nice to Haves

• Experience integrating backend services with Unity or other game engines
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with Docker and containerisation

Pay range and compensation package

Salary negotiable depending on experience and capability. Circa $110,000 + Super
