✨ A good mix of technical leadership, backend engineering, and shaping a chapter’s long-term direction - all within a company building genuinely complex, large-scale tech.
📍's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
💼 Hybrid working - Tue, Wed, Thurs onsite
💰 Competitive salary
About the Company
This organisation builds high-accuracy digital representations of the physical world, combining large-scale imagery, advanced processing pipelines, and AI-driven analytics. Their technology powers everything from infrastructure planning to public safety, connectivity improvement, and environmental projects - basically helping major industries understand and manage the outside world without being on-site.
They operate end-to-end: proprietary capture systems, heavy data processing, and cloud-native platforms that expose this information through mature APIs and a visualisation tool used by thousands of professionals across Europe and North America.
If you enjoy engineering that deals with real-world complexity and massive datasets, this is one of the few places doing it at this scale.
The Role
They’re looking for a Team Lead – Backend Development to oversee the backend chapter, which currently spans two product-focused tribes. It’s a chapter-lead position (not functional team ownership), meaning your focus is on people development, engineering standards, and technical excellence rather than day-to-day delivery management. You will support people’s growth, and still contribute hands-on in a modern C#/.NET cloud environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Technical Contribution (50%):
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using C#/.NET
- Work within Azure-based cloud environments, using Azure DevOps, AKS, and Infrastructure-as-Code
- Help with the ongoing shift toward Terraform and a more standardised IaC approach
- Work with distributed systems and multi-cluster setups
- Contribute to shaping patterns that will scale their cloud footprint globally (they’re currently one of the largest Azure adopters in Europe)
People & Chapter Leadership (50%):
- Line-manage backend engineers across multiple tribes
- Coach, mentor and support individual growth plans
- Run performance reviews and drive engineering excellence
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive chapter environment
Cross-Functional Work:
- Partner with product, DevOps, frontend and other chapter leads
- Align delivery priorities and technical direction
Strategic Input:
- Contribute to architectural discussions
- Influence chapter roadmap and capability growth
- Bring a bullish mindset when it comes to AI (huge plus)
- If you happen to be closer to Engineering Manager level, there’s a growing appetite for AI-first engineering leadership
Hiring & Onboarding:
- Support recruitment and integration of new team members
Continuous Improvement:
- Improve developer experience, workflows and system reliability
- Encourage documentation, internal talks, and peer learning
What You Bring
- 5+ years of backend development (C#/.NET)
- Some team-lead or line-management experience is required
- Strong communication skills, with potential to grow into Engineering Manager territory
- Solid experience with cloud-native systems (Azure, AKS, distributed systems)
- Understanding of IaC and Terraform is welcome
- Strong debugging skills for distributed architectures
- Agile experience (Scrum/Kanban)
What You Get
- An international team of 450+ colleagues
- Training, courses, coaching and room to grow
- Competitive salary + travel and home-working allowance
- 25 holidays (option to build to 35)
- A yearly Mental Health Day
- Sport subscription discount
- Fresh fruit, soup and salads
- Hybrid working for a healthy balance
- Company laptop
