JOB PURPOSE:

Manage the FIG South Korea and Japan portfolio covering commercial banks, non-bank financial institutions and central banks & supranational, offering industry and subject matter expertise to the Bank to expand the target franchise. Responsible for maintaining strategic dialogue with the assigned portfolio of FIG IBG clients, including originating transactions and managing the broader client and portfolio management. The role-holder will also ensure the assigned business/ client portfolio consistently meets its objectives, achieves revenue and other targets, while providing excellent client experience and strong portfolio credit quality.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business Origination and Execution:

  • Originate transactions with FIG (comprising Banks, NBFI’s and CB&S) clients across FAB banking products (Primarily GTB, Global Markets and Corporate Finance) focussed on the assigned geographies of Korea and Japan
  • Deliver FIG market knowledge to clients, acting as a thought leader for FIG externally and internally
  • Convert external market trends into business opportunities, identifying client needs and proposing solutions
  • Identify and develop cross-selling opportunities and increase the cross-sell ratio with key clients


Client and Market Analysis:

  • Maintain insight into market developments in all relevant sub-sectors and geographies
  • Develop an external market presence (through attendance at relevant external events etc) to promote FAB FIG particularly across MENA, in the assigned geographies and in other relevant forums
  • Participate in the financial analysis of clients and their markets to identify opportunities and risks


Strategic Direction:

  • Develop the assigned team’s strategy and business plan with the aim of increasing the Bank’s share of the client wallet
  • Together with the Global Head of FIG / Head of FIG, Asia Pacific, provide strategic direction to the FIG Banks business focussed on the proliferation of best practices across FIG Bank clients as a whole
  • Shape and execute a strategic approach to clients including with sub-sectors such as NBFI and CB&S
  • Maintain close interaction with Product teams, and other stakeholders, to maximise business opportunities with clients, while fostering strategies to drive idea generation
  • Ensure the assigned portfolio is managed to enhance the returns and profitability of the broader FIG portfolio
  • Act as a senior ambassador for the FAB brand and the FIG business



Budgeting and Financial Planning:

  • Contribute to the preparation of the FIG budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all team activities are conducted in line within approved policies and procedures
  • Manage the revenue responsibility of the assigned team, achieving targets within defined budget levels


Client Relationship Management:

  • Examine and resolve credit, market and operational risk aspects of transactions in collaboration with Product and other stakeholders
  • Maintain the credit quality of client relationships within the assigned portfolio at an acceptable level set by the Bank’s management and Credit Risk policies
  • Ensure Account Plans are prepared and maintained for all key clients
  • Ensure clients files / other documents are maintained to an appropriate standard
  • Ensure credit reviews are submitted on time and agreed conditions are met
  • Maintain a satisfactory audit outcome for the portfolio / team activities


Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Assist the Global Head of FIG / Head of FIG, Asia Pacific in day-to-day administrative and transactional activities to ensure continuity of work and the delivery of effective and high-quality outputs
  • Ensure that internal processes for existing portfolio and NTBs are in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Work closely with Credit Risk to maintain acceptable Credit quality of the portfolio
  • Adhere to process KPIs, ORM, BCP, Internal Audit requirements and other internal and external requirements
  • Manage and follow up on KYC and compliance requirements to ensure consistency with the Bank’s KYC and AML policies and regulatory requirements


Policies, Systems, Processes, and Procedures:

  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner


MIS and Reports:

  • Review and analyse financial statements, MIS and reports to keep track of performance against budgets
  • Contribute to analysis of team’s performance including regular FIG MT sessions
  • Manage and assess team performance and RMs


People Management

  • Maintain an open-communication environment to allow germination of ideas and identify potential issues at infancy stage.
  • Contribute to creation of a high-performance culture and engaged team through effective collaboration.
  • Ensure completion of HR process for people-related activities such as team’s performance management, leave planning and learning and development in according to HR policy and guideline.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in FIG corporate and investment banking with a focus on client coverage
  • Relevant FIG experience of the markets in scope being South Korea and Japan and other markets that may be assigned


Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related discipline
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent is preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of the banking sector, and FAB’s products and business strategies
  • Knowledge of FIG sector dynamics, financing requirements and client buying behaviours
  • Ability to maintain strategic dialogue with C-Suite executives
  • Ability to proactively originate business and drive idea generation
  • Ability to work under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to analyse and research information
  • Banking software systems proficiency
  • Data analysis and financial modelling skills
  • Credit analysis skills
  • Languages: fluent in English, Korean and/ or Japanese
